Impact 100 Southern Indiana held their Annual Award Celebration on Thursday September 26, 2018. It was an exciting night with over 200 women in attendance and four local charities competing for the $100,000 grant.
Congratulations to the 2018 Impact 100 Southern Indiana grant recipient Hope Southern Indiana. With the grant, they will provide a self-esteem bootcamp for 200 local teenage girls through four camps over the next two years.
In making the case for her organization's proposal, Angie Graf noted, "On days you feel good, you can rule the world." However, in stark contrast, Graf cited a recent study of teens in Indiana that showed one in five Indiana teens contemplated suicide, and suicide is the 2nd most leading cause of death among Indiana teens.
Speaking of at-risk girls in our community, she said "they must have hope that things can change, that they can overcome their circumstances. If they have the tools and the confidence in themselves, you can give these girls hope." She promised that the self-esteem bootcamp will change the trajectory of the participants' lives.
You can read the executive summary of their project and we'll be sure to provide periodic updates throughout the next two years to share all the wonderful things they are sure to accomplish.
We also want to congratulate the other three finalists. All organizations worked hard and presented well. Their wish lists are available on our website. Please feel free to use the wish list to make a non-cash donation or to volunteer.
Impact 100 Southern Indiana is at work all year-long, please check our website and follow us on social media to keep abreast of the latest happenings. Next up will be meet and greets to be held late winter/early spring. These events are open to the public and are a great way to introduce the Impact 100 model to those who are unfamiliar with it.
